Product Engineer
Role Summary
Serve as the central technical resource connecting design engineering, manufacturing, technical support, quality, marketing and field teams for products across the Product Life Cycle (PLC).
Drive serviceability, reliability, cost-of-service optimization and continuous improvement of hardware, diagnostics, tooling, documentation and training to improve field performance and service revenue.

Mid-level. Experience expectations per minimum qualifications: Doctorate with 0 years; Master's with ~3 years; Bachelor's with ~5 years of related experience.
Responsibilities
Primary duties performed in support of product introduction, sustainment, and service optimization:
- Act as the interface between software/hardware design, manufacturing, technical support, quality, marketing and field teams throughout the PLC.
- Influence early designs to improve serviceability, diagnostics, reliability, design tolerances, IP protection, and Cost of Service (CoS).
- Optimize serviceability and reduce cost-of-service across product life stages; prepare and update CoS models.
- Track system-level product performance versus specifications and drive corrective actions.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and manage escalations, producing executable action plans for field engineers.
- Develop and deliver training; work with Learning and Knowledge Services to determine training needs and audit course quality.
- Capture and propagate lessons learned into documentation, FRUs, tooling, knowledge bases and training materials.
- Define and optimize spare parts stocking strategy in coordination with supply chain and field support.
- Support NPI activities, validate integration of Alpha/Beta systems, and travel to Beta sites for installations and escalations.
- Participate in cross-functional best-practice teams and contribute to service offering definitions and sales support materials.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for successful performance in this role:
- Strong knowledge of system operation, system integration and system calibrations.
- Demonstrated ability to influence product designs for serviceability, diagnostics and cost optimization.
- Proven troubleshooting skills and experience resolving escalations in complex systems.
- Experience creating and using CoS models (bottom-up and top-down) to inform design choices.
- Experience developing training, technical documentation, and knowledge-transfer materials for field teams.
- Ability to perform hands-on integration and validation of Alpha/Beta systems and travel to customer sites as needed.
Nice-to-have:
- Familiarity with knowledge-management tools referenced (e.g., Merlin, Solution Point) and NPI best-practice experience.
- Experience working with service supply chain and spare-parts planning.
