Job Title

Product Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for product qualification and reliability activities for the HVDC product line within the High Voltage Power business. The role drives qualification of GaN FETs and silicon gate driver devices for data center and related markets and supports new product development from kickoff through release to manufacturing.

Works cross-functionally with Design, Test, Manufacturing, Quality, Packaging, Reliability, and external partners to execute qualification plans, perform failure analysis, and resolve production or reliability issues.

Experience Level

Mid-level — guidance indicates 3+ years of relevant product engineering or device qualification experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include planning and executing product qualification and driving actions from data and failure analysis.

  • Develop and own product qualification plans (die and package) for Automotive, Industrial, and Commercial devices.
  • Execute qualification milestones, risk assessments, test plan reviews, data analysis, documentation, and product release activities.
  • Design and oversee qualification hardware for stresses (dynamic HTOL, Biased HAST, Power Temp Cycle) including pattern generation and measurement setup.
  • Submit and guide failure analysis to determine root cause of reliability and qualification failures.
  • Lead production escalations with factory engineers and collaborate with Manufacturing and Quality on dispositions and corrective actions.
  • Drive cost reduction, capacity expansion, and quality improvements through process/package/test optimization and platform simplification.
  • Collaborate with external PPIT partners to co-develop and release technologies on the GaN roadmap.
  • Apply structured problem-solving (8D, 4C), experimental design, statistical analysis, and bench testing to resolve yield and quality issues.
  • Document lessons learned and share best practices for future product development execution.

Requirements

Core skills and experience required or strongly preferred for successful performance in this role.

  • Must-have:
    • Proven product engineering or device qualification experience in semiconductor or power device contexts (experience level indicated elsewhere).
    • Hands-on experience with lab test equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, meters, loads) for data collection, device debug, and failure analysis.
    • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills; familiarity with failure analysis workflows and production escalation processes.
    • Effective verbal and written communication and ability to work cross-functionally to meet project schedules.
  • Nice-to-have / Preferred:
    • Experience with high-voltage power devices, GaN device qualification, or gate driver devices.
    • Proficiency with statistical/data tools (Spotfire, JMP, Mbayse or similar) to analyze large datasets.
    • PCB design experience (Altium, Cadence) and programming/scripting (Python, SQL, VBA).
    • Experience operating ETS364 or similar automated test equipment and experience with yield improvement/test time reduction initiatives.

Education Requirements
