Job Title

Product Development Engineer, System Level Test (SLT)

Role Summary

Develop and deliver production-ready System Level Test (SLT) solutions for AMD embedded processors, enabling product release and high-volume manufacturing. Work on test strategy, test content, characterization, and production readiness in partnership with Product Engineering, Diagnostics, BIOS, Software, Quality, Reliability, and Manufacturing teams.

Focus areas include improving test coverage, yield, quality, and cost for embedded processor platforms across automotive, industrial, networking, and aerospace applications.

Experience Level

Mid-level (Level - Mid-Career). Typical candidate has practical NPI and production test experience; specific years of experience not stated.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include design, validation, and operational support of SLT solutions across the product lifecycle.

  • Develop, validate, and optimize SLT solutions and test flows for embedded processors.
  • Lead pre-silicon and post-silicon test bring-up, hardware checkout, and production readiness.
  • Define SLT strategy, test content, diagnostics, and characterization requirements with cross-functional teams.
  • Perform silicon characterization across process, voltage, and temperature conditions.
  • Debug hardware, firmware, software, diagnostics, and platform-level test infrastructure issues.
  • Investigate yield and quality issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Support production releases, test program correlation, and manufacturing ramp activities; work with OSATs and global manufacturing teams to deploy and sustain test solutions.
  • Use test data and analytics to improve diagnostic effectiveness, upstream test coverage, and operational efficiency.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on yield, quality, and test time/cost reduction.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical leadership on critical projects.

Requirements

Key technical skills and constraints for candidates. Education items are summarized separately below.

  • Must-have: Practical experience in System Level Test (SLT), system validation, or platform-level testing in an NPI-to-production environment.
  • Experience developing and debugging SLT test programs, test flows, diagnostics, and characterization plans.
  • Experience with silicon characterization, yield analysis, failure diagnosis, and test program correlation.
  • Platform bring-up and system-level hardware/firmware/software debugging experience.
  • Proficient with Linux/Unix and Windows environments.
  • Programming or scripting experience (examples: Python, C/C++, Java, Perl, Ruby) and familiarity with version control (e.g., Git).
  • Experience collaborating with manufacturing partners and OSATs to deploy and sustain production test solutions.
  • Effective debugging, analytical, and cross-functional communication skills; ability to drive issues to resolution.
  • Position is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
  • Nice-to-have: RMA debug experience, familiarity with BIOS/firmware/kernel/driver internals, and experience with IC test methodologies or ASIC product development.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or a related technical discipline preferred.
