Job Title

Product Development Engineer (Physical Failure Analysis)

Role Summary

Join the Product Development team to perform physical failure analysis (PFA) on solid-state memory devices. The role focuses on diagnosing device failures, applying analytical techniques, and supporting corrective actions to improve product reliability and yield.

This position works in a laboratory environment and collaborates with cross-functional engineering teams to present findings and implement solutions.

Experience Level

Mid-level β€” at least 2 years of relevant experience in Physical Failure Analysis, fabrication (Fab), or assembly environments.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include performing PFA, investigating failures, and communicating results to stakeholders.

  • Develop subject-matter expertise in PFA techniques, circuit edits, and de-capsulation methods and tools.
  • Apply electrical and physical analytical techniques to diagnose failure modes related to device operation, device physics, architecture, and fabrication processes.
  • Perform lab experiments, prepare samples, and execute failure analysis workflows to isolate root causes.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to present findings and support implementation of corrective actions.
  • Follow laboratory policies and safety procedures, and maintain accurate technical documentation of analyses and results.

Requirements

Essential qualifications, skills, and work conditions.

  • Minimum 2 years of hands-on experience in Physical Failure Analysis, fab, or assembly environments (must-have).
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to generate practical solutions for complex technical issues (must-have).
  • Experience with laboratory equipment and sample preparation techniques relevant to semiconductor failure analysis (must-have).
  • Ability and willingness to work 12-hour rotating day/night shifts or permanent night shifts (must-have).
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to present technical findings to cross-functional teams (must-have).
  • Experience with circuit editing and de-capsulation tools and techniques (nice-to-have if not already expert).

Education Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Microelectronics, Mechatronics, or Material Science. Equivalent practical experience in relevant technical fields may be considered where explicitly stated by the employer.
