Product Development Engineer
Role Summary
Contribute to design, validation, and test development for semiconductor products at Altera Semiconductor Technology (M) Sdn. Bhd. The role covers product bring-up, characterization, and transition to mass production.
Work with design, validation, and manufacturing teams to define requirements, validate silicon, improve yield, and optimise test processes.
Experience Level
Mid-level — minimum 3 years of product development, silicon validation, or test engineering experience in the semiconductor industry.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include silicon validation, test development, and production support.
- Collaborate with design, validation, and manufacturing to define product requirements and specifications.
- Develop and execute silicon validation and characterization test plans; analyze results and debug issues.
- Design and develop test hardware and software for bring-up, characterization, and production testing.
- Support product development from concept to mass production, including yield improvement and failure analysis.
- Document designs, test procedures, and validation results.
- Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes and monitor industry/technology trends.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.
Must-have:- Minimum 3 years experience in semiconductor product development, silicon validation, or test engineering.
- Strong understanding of semiconductor physics and digital/analog circuit design principles.
- Experience with silicon validation, characterization, and debugging techniques.
- Proficiency in programming for test automation and data analysis (Python, C++, or Perl).
- Familiarity with test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers).
- Effective problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills; able to work independently and in teams.
- Knowledge of semiconductor manufacturing processes, yield analysis, and failure analysis.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
