Job Title
Product Development Engineer
Role Summary
Responsible for driving testability and manufacturability of integrated circuits from feasibility through high-volume manufacturing (HVM) ramp. Works cross-functionally with design, process, fab, assembly, quality, reliability, and manufacturing teams to deliver production-ready products.
Experience Level
Mid-level. Appropriate for engineers with practical experience in IC test, characterization, and production ramp activities (typical range ~3β7 years).
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include developing test methods, validating production test solutions, and enabling manufacturing ramp for new products.
- Develop and validate testability circuits, test flows, and methodologies from evaluation through production.
- Evaluate designs on automatic test equipment (ATE); debug functionality and performance issues to root cause.
- Perform ATE device characterization and use results to define datasheet specifications and yield analysis.
- Collaborate with designers to implement DFT/DFD/DFM features for efficient production testing.
- Develop and debug software to convert validation vectors and control complex test equipment.
- Create and validate production test hardware; modify/redesign circuits to meet specifications and margins.
- Analyze post-silicon data (bin split, DLCP, fallout) to optimize test time, yield, and cost.
- Lead manufacturing readiness activities: ES milestones, wafer start planning, qualification strategy, and site certification.
- Coordinate with fab, assembly, and test factory partners to support production ramp and capacity planning.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and work scope expected for the role.
- Hands-on experience with ATE, device characterization, and production test development.
- Proven experience in design-for-test/debug/manufacturing (DFT/DFD/DFM) collaboration with designers.
- Ability to develop and debug test software and scripts for complex test equipment.
- Strong data-analysis skills for yield, bin-split, and test optimization; familiarity with DLCP and fallout analysis.
- Experience supporting product qualification and high-volume manufacturing ramp with cross-functional teams.
- Ability to design, validate, and troubleshoot test hardware and production test solutions.
- Nice-to-have: prior experience managing new product introductions in a wafer fab or assembly/test factory; experience with capacity analysis and site certification.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
