Product Development Engineer

Role Summary

Work within Intel Manufacturing and Product Engineering (MPE) as a Product Development Engineer developing and testing next-generation microprocessors and chipsets. The role focuses on design validation, debugging, failure analysis, characterization, and ensuring testability and manufacturability from design through production ramp.

Position supports hardware, firmware/BIOS, and software integration and sits in the Data Center Group (DCG). Role is based in Penang with a hybrid work model.

Experience Level

Mid-level. Minimum 3 years semiconductor industry experience preferred; fresh graduates may be considered.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include design validation, test methodology development, and production optimization.

• Contribute to design, development and validation of testability circuits; analyze hardware and software architectures and debug across hardware, firmware/BIOS, and software.
• Ensure testability and manufacturability of microprocessors and chipsets through development and production ramp.
• Develop and debug test methodologies and software for feature and functionality validation.
• Analyze component specifications versus performance and production equipment capability; optimize for yield and bin split.
• Drive test time reduction and product cost optimization through fallout data analysis.

Requirements

Essential and preferred skills and experience.

• Experience in semiconductor industry and knowledge of HVM manufacturing process flow; minimum 3 years preferred but fresh graduates may apply.
• Circuit knowledge and hands-on validation, integration, and testing skills.
• Experience with debugging, failure analysis, and characterization across hardware and firmware layers.
• Basic programming experience and data system automation skills.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, teamwork, and communication skills.
• Availability for Shift 1 (Malaysia) and to work in a hybrid model based in Penang.
• Role is a contract position.

Nice-to-have:

• Perl and object-oriented programming experience.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Telecommunications, Automation and Control Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
