Job Title
Product Development Engineer
Role Summary
Drive testability and manufacturability for integrated circuits from component feasibility through high-volume production ramp. The role focuses on developing and validating test circuits, test flows, and production-ready test solutions while coordinating with design, process, fab, assembly, quality, and reliability teams.
Experience Level
Mid-level (no specific years of experience stated).
Responsibilities
Accountable for enabling post-silicon validation and high-volume manufacturing readiness:
- Develop and validate testability circuits, test flows, and methodologies for new products.
- Evaluate designs on automatic test equipment (ATE); debug functionality and performance issues to root cause.
- Perform ATE device characterization and yield analysis to inform datasheet specifications and test strategies.
- Collaborate with design teams to drive DFT/DFD/DFM features and close test holes.
- Develop and debug software to convert validation vectors and control complex test equipment.
- Create and validate production and validation test hardware solutions.
- Analyze process and spec corners to ensure manufacturability and resolve yield issues pre-ramp.
- Lead manufacturing readiness activities: ES milestones, wafer start planning, qualification strategy, and assembly/test site certification.
- Drive test-time reduction and production cost optimization through fallout and bin-split analysis.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience required to perform the role effectively:
- Hands-on experience with ATE evaluation, test program development, and device characterization.
- Practical knowledge of DFT/DFM/DFD principles and implementing test/debug features in silicon.
- Ability to develop and debug software/scripts to convert vectors and control test equipment.
- Experience performing yield analysis, bin-split optimization, and post-silicon data analysis.
- Proven debugging skills for post-silicon functional and performance issues.
- Experience creating validation and production test hardware.
- Strong cross-functional collaboration with design, process, fab, assembly, quality, and manufacturing teams.
- Nice-to-have: prior experience with FPGA/SoC product ramps or semiconductor manufacturing environments; familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python) and test automation.
Education Requirements
Bachelor in Electronic Engineering (Hons).
