Job Title
Product Development Engineer 1
Role Summary
Perform physical failure analysis (PFA) and product development activities for DRAM products on the Boise, ID team. Work focuses on finding and analyzing physical defects, correlating electrical failure modes to physical root causes, and supporting yield-improvement projects.
Day-to-day work includes operating failure-analysis tools, preparing STEM/TEM samples, producing detailed reports, and creating procedural and PFA reference documentation. Position may telecommute part-time.
Experience Level
Entry-level. No specific years of experience specified.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include failure analysis, sample preparation, and documentation to support product yield and reliability.
- Conduct physical defect analysis and correlate defects to electrical failure modes.
- Use CAD/layout to correlate failures when necessary.
- Perform layer-by-layer de-processing using wet and dry etch techniques.
- Operate Focused Ion Beam (FIB) and Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM).
- Perform fault isolation including voltage contrasting (PVC).
- Prepare lamella (thin samples) for Scanning Transmission Electron Microscopy (STEM) and Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM); submit TEM requests and coordinate analytic work.
- Save images, write detailed technical reports, and consult with internal/external customers.
- Create DRAM physical failure analysis (PFA) and procedural reference documents.
- Perform statistical analysis on product data to drive yield improvement projects.
Requirements
