Product Definition Engineer (Systems/Applications)
Role Summary
Define and drive product specifications and roadmaps for next-generation power management ICs (dc-dc converters, hot-swap controllers) for automotive, industrial and server markets. Work as the technical interface between customers, R&D, marketing and cross-functional teams to bring products from concept to market.

Mid-level (5+ years of relevant experience in applications, systems, or product definition engineering)
Responsibilities
Primary duties for this role include product definition, customer engagement, and market analysis.
- Analyze market trends and customer requirements across automotive, industrial, and server applications.
- Define product requirements, datasheet parameters and design targets based on system and customer needs.
- Serve as technical interface between customers and internal teams (R&D, marketing, manufacturing).
- Perform competitive benchmarking on performance, cost and features.
- Own product roadmap, NPI pipeline and product lifecycle activities.
- Create business cases and perform ROI analysis for product initiatives.
- Collaborate with cross-functional development teams to ensure timely product launches.
- Train marketing and field application teams to drive assigned portfolio to revenue.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience.
- 5+ years experience in applications, systems, or product definition engineering.
- Experience with power ICs, especially dc-dc buck converters/controllers and hot-swap controllers.
- Fluent Japanese language skills, written and verbal.
- Knowledge of automotive, industrial, or server power systems and their application-level requirements.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; ability to translate system requirements into IC specifications.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills; experience interfacing with customers and cross-functional teams.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience creating business cases, ROI analysis and owning NPI results.
- Prior exposure to competitive benchmarking and go-to-market planning for semiconductors.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
