System Software Engineer, UEFI Firmware

Role Summary

Join the UEFI Firmware team to design, implement, verify, and debug low-level firmware used in gaming consoles, servers, and AI devices. Work spans early modelling and simulation through silicon bring-up, deployment, and maintenance.

The role collaborates with system, hardware, and verification teams globally to deliver robust UEFI firmware and platform bring-up.

Experience Level

Entry-level. The posting requests approximately 2+ years of relevant low-level systems experience.

Responsibilities

Primary engineering responsibilities for UEFI firmware development, verification, and platform bring-up.

  • Develop UEFI firmware features and associated C code.
  • Document code flow, data flow, and firmware architecture.
  • Debug and root-cause firmware issues across software and hardware boundaries.
  • Support simulation and FPGA environment bring-up for firmware validation.
  • Plan and execute pre-silicon and post-silicon verification of firmware.
  • Drive and resolve cross-team technical issues and coordinate with global teams.

Requirements

Core technical skills and experience needed for the role.

  • Must-have: Strong C programming and debugging skills.
  • Must-have: Experience with low-level operating system functionality and system software (kernel modules, device drivers).
  • Must-have: Practical experience with ARM technologies and low-level ARM programming.
  • Must-have: Ability to work independently and communicate effectively across teams.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with UEFI, ACPI, SMBIOS, and the Linux kernel.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with FPGA environments, simulation, and pre/post-silicon verification.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with AI development tools.

Education Requirements

BS or MS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering β€” or equivalent practical experience.
