Job Title

Product Application Engineer - GaN (m/f/d)

Role Summary

The Product Application Engineer (GaN) drives adoption of GaN technology by owning application engineering projects from concept through deployment. The role focuses on in-application validation, development of hardware and software evaluation platforms, and system-level optimization.

You will work with device, application and system stakeholders, support customers with technical design reviews, and produce data-driven application documentation and reference designs.

Experience Level

Mid-level. The posting does not specify a years-of-experience requirement.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include end-to-end technical ownership of application projects and delivering validation and evaluation platforms that demonstrate GaN performance.

  • Own application projects end-to-end: specification, design, development, validation, and deployment.
  • Design and build hardware and software evaluation platforms to demonstrate GaN performance in real conditions.
  • Perform in-application validation and characterization aligned with system requirements.
  • Conduct benchmarking across Si, SiC, and GaN for efficiency, power density, thermal behavior, and system performance.
  • Drive system-level analysis and optimization, translating use cases into actionable engineering guidance.
  • Inform product definition through application-driven insights with Marketing and R&D.
  • Serve as technical authority for customers: lead technical discussions, design reviews, and in-depth application analysis.
  • Produce technical content: application notes, reference designs, and validation documentation.
  • Collaborate with research institutes and universities on applied R&D and represent the company at technical events.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience required to perform the role; preferred items are noted.

  • Must-have: Strong power electronics background covering low voltage up to ~1200 V.
  • Must-have: Proven hands-on hardware development experience: schematic/PCB design, bring-up, debugging, and lab validation.
  • Must-have: System-level mindset linking device behaviour to application and system performance.
  • Must-have: Experience in benchmarking and performance analysis of power systems.
  • Must-have: Ability to manage hardware and software development end-to-end and a practical, lab-oriented problem-solving approach.
  • Must-have: Strong communication skills and capability to engage with global customers.
  • Nice-to-have: Prior experience with GaN or SiC devices.
  • Nice-to-have: Understanding of AI/data-center power architectures.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with motor control and robotics applications.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field is specified.
