Role Summary

The Product Application Engineer will drive adoption of GaN technology through hands-on application engineering, taking projects from specification and evaluation through system-level optimization and deployment. The role sits within TeamNexperia and interfaces with device R&D, marketing, customers, and external research partners.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities focus on end-to-end application projects, evaluation platforms, validation, and customer engagement.

• Own application projects from specification to deployment, including design, validation and documentation.
• Develop hardware and software evaluation platforms to demonstrate GaN performance in real systems.
• Perform in-application validation and characterization aligned with system requirements.
• Conduct benchmarking across Si, SiC, and GaN on efficiency, power density, thermal behavior and system performance.
• Perform system-level analysis and optimization; translate use cases into actionable design insights.
• Contribute to product definition with Marketing and GaN R&D using application-driven data.
• Serve as technical authority for customers: support deep-dive discussions, design reviews, and application analysis.
• Produce data-driven technical content such as application notes, reference designs and documentation.
• Collaborate with research institutes and represent the company at academic and industry technical events.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and capabilities required to perform the role.

• Strong power electronics background covering low-voltage up to 1200 V.
• Proven hands-on hardware development experience: circuit design, bring-up, debugging and validation.
• System-level mindset linking device behavior to application performance.
• Experience in benchmarking and performance analysis.
• Ability to manage both hardware and software development end-to-end.
• Practical, lab-oriented problem-solving approach with strong execution focus.
• Strong communication skills and capability to engage with global customers.
• Nice-to-have: direct experience with GaN or SiC; knowledge of AI/data center power architectures; understanding of motor control including humanoid robotics.

Education Requirements

Bachelors or Masters degree in Electronics Engineering, Physics, or a related technical field is specified.
