PROCT ADT Equipment Staff Engineer / Principal (Dry Etch, Deposition CVD/PVD/Diffusion, CMP, Wet)
Role Summary
Provide technical leadership within PROCT ADT to improve equipment performance, capability, and global manufacturing outcomes. Lead complex, multi-site initiatives to resolve equipment-driven yield, defectivity, and reliability issues and enable technology node readiness and volume ramp.
This role partners with technology development, integration, process teams, and suppliers to drive scalable improvements in cost, performance, and standardization.
Experience Level
Senior - typically requires at least 6+ years in semiconductor manufacturing or equipment engineering; 10+ years preferred for Principal-level expectations.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include ownership of equipment performance and cross-site technical leadership.
- Lead global equipment performance programs to improve stability, availability, matching, and efficiency across toolsets.
- Direct complex multi-fab root-cause analysis for equipment-driven yield, defectivity, and reliability using data-driven and physics-based methods.
- Provide technical leadership on tool hardware and chamber behavior to expand process capability and performance limits.
- Partner with technology development, integration, and process teams to enable node readiness, volume ramp, and disciplined change control.
- Lead technical engagements with equipment suppliers to drive design improvements and align roadmaps with business needs.
- Develop, validate, and deploy Best Known Methods (BKMs) and global standardization across sites.
- Drive initiatives to reduce cost of ownership, lower variation, and increase productivity through equipment and maintenance optimization.
- Communicate technical strategies, risks, and outcomes to leadership and mentor engineering staff.
Requirements
Essential and preferred qualifications for successful candidates.
- Must-have: 6+ years of experience in semiconductor manufacturing, equipment engineering, process engineering, or related roles.
- Must-have: Proven experience leading complex technical problem solving using data analysis, DOE, or structured methodologies.
- Must-have: Demonstrated ability to lead multi-functional, multi-site initiatives and influence cross-functional teams and suppliers to deliver measurable results.
- Must-have: Experience with hardware/chamber behavior troubleshooting and improving tool performance at scale.
- Nice-to-have: 10+ years in semiconductor equipment engineering or advanced manufacturing environments.
- Nice-to-have: Deep expertise in one or more process areas: Dry Etch; Deposition (CVD, PVD, Diffusion); CMP; Wet cleans.
- Nice-to-have: Experience partnering with equipment suppliers to drive hardware improvements and influence technology roadmaps.
- Nice-to-have: Experience supporting advanced memory manufacturing (DRAM, NAND) and high-volume ramps.
- Nice-to-have: Experience or interest in developing Agentic AI workflows for process or equipment support.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, Physics, or a related field - or equivalent practical experience.
