Job Title

Process Integration Development Engineer

Role Summary

Work on process integration and yield engineering within Defect Metrology to support technology transfers, optimize manufacturing processes, and improve yield in startup and high-volume semiconductor production.

The role requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, advanced data analysis to identify root causes, and execution of experiments and continuous-improvement activities to meet manufacturing and quality objectives.

Experience Level

Senior-level. The posting specifies advanced experience (examples: Ph.D. +4 years or Master's +6 years in semiconductor industry) and expects demonstrated technical leadership.

Responsibilities

Core responsibilities focus on yield, defect analysis, process development, and driving improvements from transfer into production.

  • Perform detailed data analysis and statistical/data-mining to identify root causes of defects and yield issues.
  • Lead low-yield analysis, yield improvement activities, and define roadmaps for technology transfers.
  • Design and implement continuous improvement initiatives to prevent quality and yield excursions.
  • Develop process flows, procedures, and equipment configurations for process modules.
  • Design, execute, and analyze experiments (DOE) to meet engineering specifications.
  • Conduct quality and reliability risk assessments for materials and process changes.
  • Lead defect and parametric measurement efforts in startup and high-volume manufacturing.
  • Mentor team members, influence technical direction, and align organizational goals with technical vision.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Semiconductor processing/fabrication experience (e.g., lithography, etch, CMP, thin films, plating).
  • Hands-on experience with statistical process control, DOE principles, and interpreting experimental results.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and data-mining tools; experience with JMP/JSL and Python is expected.
  • Experience with yield analysis, failure analysis, and process improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to handle large data sets, perform data cleaning, visualization, and extract insights from structured and unstructured data.
  • Experience with defect inspection/review, metrology techniques, or electrical/device characterization in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration skills.

Education Requirements

Minimum: Ph.D. with 4+ years semiconductor industry experience OR Master's with 6+ years in semiconductor industry, process and yield engineering, or a related STEM field. Fields referenced include Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or semiconductor-related scientific STEM disciplines.
