Job Title

Principle Validation and Hardware Design Engineer

Role Summary

Lead validation and hardware design efforts for Marvell's high-speed analog/mixed-signal connectivity products in the ODSP team. Drive bring-up and validation strategies, coordinate with design, firmware, and system teams, and ensure products meet performance and reliability targets for datacenter and optics applications.

Responsibilities

Accountable for planning, executing, and leading validation activities across chip and system levels.

  • Develop, review, and refine bring-up and validation plans; execute validation campaigns.
  • Create and document test plans and test results for internal review and release.
  • Collaborate with Design, Firmware, and Validation teams to reproduce, debug, and root-cause issues.
  • Guide and mentor validation team members and act as a project lead on validation efforts.
  • Work with chip designers and system engineers to identify and verify fixes for hardware and system-level bugs.
  • Contribute to validation strategy, tooling, and lab setup to support high-speed interface verification.
  • Coordinate with distributed teams to ensure effective communication and cross-site execution.

  • Must-have: Technical silicon validation experience in SERDES and high-speed interfaces; experience with system marginality validation.
  • Must-have: Minimum of 3 years' experience as a project lead or equivalent responsibility in validation projects.
  • Must-have: Proficiency in Python for developing test scripts and automation; solid lab techniques and hands-on experience with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, BERTs, spectrum analyzers, function generators).
  • Must-have: Strong debugging, problem-solving, communication, and teamwork skills; ability to work in a global team.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with MATLAB and mathematical programming.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience reviewing PCB schematics and debugging PCBs.
  • Nice-to-have: Familiarity with physical-layer specs such as IEEE 802.3 and Common Electrical Interface (CEI); experience with high-speed I/O transceivers (TX/RX).
  • Additional: Role may require eligibility to access export-controlled information and may be subject to export license review for non-U.S. citizens.

Education Requirements

Bachelor of Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of relevant work experience, or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of relevant work experience. Degrees should be in Electrical Engineering or a closely related technical field.
