Principal Wet Process Engineer, Advanced Packaging
Role Summary
The Principal Wet Process Engineer will develop and optimize wet-chemistry and assembly processes for advanced packaging products, focusing on yield, reliability, cost, and manufacturability. The role partners with R&D, suppliers, and manufacturing teams to qualify new processes and enable site-to-site transfer.
This position leads technical projects, failure analysis, and process qualification activities for new product introduction and continuous improvement.
Experience Level
Senior (Principal). Minimum: 8+ years semiconductor industry experience as a process development engineer; hiring level depends on demonstrated technical depth and overall qualifications.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include process development, problem resolution, and project leadership in advanced packaging wet processing.
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve assembly and wet-process related production issues using failure analysis and statistical methods (FMEA, 8D, SPC/FDC).
- Develop, optimize, and characterize wet chemistry processes to meet product quality and reliability targets.
- Coordinate and implement process, equipment, and material evaluations; qualify changes at process steps.
- Validate and scale innovative processes, tools, and materials for new product introduction and process baselines.
- Lead yield-improvement, cost-reduction, productivity, and risk-management initiatives.
- Support SPC/FDC/RMS/APC activities and site-to-site portability efforts.
- Manage and audit material suppliers to meet quality, cost, and risk objectives.
- Support internal and external audits and technical documentation for process qualifications.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

Must-have: 8+ years semiconductor process development experience; demonstrated hands-on wet chemistry development in a cleanroom environment.
- Experience with statistical process control and monitoring systems (SPC/FDC/RMS/APC).
- Proven experience in process troubleshooting and model-based problem solving; able to design valid tests and Design of Experiments (DOE).
- Strong data collection, organization, and analysis skills; experience using Python and statistical software.
- Supplier management and audit experience related to materials for assembly and packaging.

Nice-to-have: Experience with advanced packaging, DRAM, NAND or other memory products; experience leveraging AI and automation for data analysis and process improvement; familiarity with material characterization techniques.
Education Requirements
Minimum: MS in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field. Preferred: PhD in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, or Chemistry.
