Job Title

Principal Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Principal Verification Engineer on Arm's Systems team responsible for SoC and IP verification across CPU/GPU, memory controllers, NE/AI accelerators and interconnects. The role focuses on defining verification methodology, developing SystemVerilog/UVM testbenches, debugging complex failures, and coordinating across architecture, design, modelling, emulation and silicon validation teams.

This team works on IP and subsystems targeting mobile, server, IoT, automotive and AI use cases.

Experience Level

Senior level. Typical overall experience: 14–19 years.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include technical leadership in verification and cross-team collaboration.

  • Define verification strategies and write test plans for SoC and subsystem integration.
  • Develop and maintain SystemVerilog/Verilog testbenches and UVM-based verification environments.
  • Implement tests, run simulations/emulation, analyze and debug test failures and design issues.
  • Drive verification for interfaces and subsystems such as CHI, PCIe, CXL, DDRx/LPDDRx and related integrations.
  • Plan tasks, set schedules and quality checkpoints with project management and technical leads.
  • Collaborate with architecture, design, modelling, performance analysis, FPGA/board and silicon validation teams.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers and contribute to team capability building.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.

  • Strong hands-on experience with digital hardware design and Verilog/SystemVerilog.
  • Expertise in SoC verification using UVM and familiarity with verification methodologies (formal, power-aware verification, emulation).
  • Embedded low-level programming experience in C/C++ and assembly language (preferably ARM).
  • Experience across verification stages: requirements collection, methodology and test plan creation, testbench implementation, test case development and documentation.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills for complex SoC issues.

Nice-to-have

  • Knowledge of SoC verification flow and strategy; experience with ARM-based designs and system architectures.
  • Experience porting peripheral driver software and working with embedded OS, device drivers or microprocessor architectures.
  • Experience with CDC verification, GLS, DFT/DFD and power-aware verification techniques.
  • Verification experience with subsystems/protocols: PCIe, LPDDR, HBM, UCIe, Ethernet.
  • Experience developing/deploying large SoCs on emulation platforms and automation scripting (Tcl, Perl, Python, shell).

Education Requirements

Not specified.
