Principal Verification Engineer
Role Summary
Principal Verification Engineer responsible for planning and executing verification of digital integrated circuits at the block, subsystem, or device level within a semiconductor product-development team. Works with architects, design leads, software and validation teams to deliver production-ready silicon.
This is a hands-on verification role focused on UVM/SystemVerilog testbench development, verification platform building, and driving closure of functional issues.
Experience Level
Senior - requires 8+ years of related verification experience.
Responsibilities
The primary responsibilities include designing and running verification plans, building verification infrastructure, and coordinating with cross-functional teams.
- Own verification for complex blocks, subsystems, or devices; ensure compliance with functional specifications.
- Plan verification activities, develop testbenches, and execute directed and constrained-random tests.
- Develop verification platforms using UVM and SystemVerilog.
- Debug RTL and environment-level issues; drive closure of functional bugs to sign-off.
- Partner with design leads to deliver verified RTL and ensure integration with software/validation teams.
- Participate in product validation during prototype stages and support lab/system-level testing.
- Contribute to improvement of verification methodologies and tools used by the team.
Requirements
Key must-have skills and technologies for immediate success in this role.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in digital ASIC/SoC verification.
- Strong coding and scripting skills; experience with Tcl, Perl or Python.
- Experience verifying RTL implemented in SystemVerilog/Verilog or VHDL.
- Experience with UVM and constrained-random verification methodologies.
- Proficiency in C/C++ for test tools or firmware integration.
- Excellent analytical, debugging, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills in English; ability to collaborate across teams.
- Nice-to-have: formal verification experience and prior device-level or networking semiconductor domain exposure.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
