Job Title

Principal Validation Engineer

Role Summary

Responsible for validation of SSD and SoC functionality across pre-silicon and post-silicon stages. Works with design, firmware, and validation teams to develop and run bare-metal tests, debug failures, and measure performance, throughput, and power.

Experience Level

Senior level. Typical guidance: generally 5+ years of professional experience; the posting indicates 5–10 years for candidates without an advanced degree and 3–5 years with a Master’s.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Develop, port, execute, and debug bare-metal software for multiple SSD/SoC blocks.
  • Create and maintain test code to support new features and standards.
  • Design, review and document test plans and prepare test result reports.
  • Collaborate with Design, Firmware, and Validation teams to perform root-cause analysis on failures.

  • Operate and use lab equipment required for validation and hardware debug (emulators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and attributes:

  • Strong C/C++ software development skills and embedded software experience.
  • Familiarity with Linux and basic ARM/RISC microprocessor / SoC concepts.
  • Proven software/hardware debugging abilities.
  • Experience with lab tools: emulators, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers.
  • Experience in pre-silicon and post-silicon validation, including stress and PVT testing.
  • Effective written and verbal communication; able to work across disciplines and manage multiple priorities.
  • Nice-to-have: in-depth knowledge of DDR, SPI, PCIe, NVMe; NAND testing and hardware/software debug experience.

Education Requirements

Posting specifies a Bachelor's degree in Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering (with ~5–10 years professional experience) or a Master's degree in those fields (with ~3–5 years professional experience). Overall GPA of 3.5 or higher is stated. The posting implies technical degrees in engineering/computer science and may consider equivalent practical experience.
