Principal Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Lead post-silicon validation for Marvell Storage SoCs. Work within the Custom Compute Silicon engineering group to validate bare-metal firmware and SoC functionality, characterize power and performance, and deliver test plans and validation reports that enable product readiness for customers and production.
Experience Level
Senior — Principal level. The role expects 10+ years of relevant experience in hardware validation or applications engineering for SSDs.
Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include designing and executing validation activities for Storage SoCs and delivering clear technical results.
- Design and execute post-silicon validation tests for SSD chipsets during R&D.
- Develop, port, and run bare-metal software to validate Storage SoCs.
- Perform pre- and post-silicon testing, including power and performance characterization.
- Create and review test plans; document results and produce professional validation reports.
- Develop testing and benchmarking applications and analyze test data.
- Provide technical support to Field Application Engineers and Test Engineers for customer engagement and production testing.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and attributes; listed concisely.
- Proven experience in hardware validation or applications engineering for SSDs.
- Proficiency in C/C++ and ARM assembly; strong knowledge of 64-bit ARM CPU architecture.
- Experience in firmware development under bare-metal and Linux environments and debugging on SoCs for embedded applications.
- Prior experience interacting with customers and providing technical support.
- Strong written and spoken English communication skills; able to work independently and as part of a team.
Nice-to-have:
- Understanding of SSD controller architecture.
- Experience with interfaces such as NAND, PCIe, NVMe, and DDR.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. The position expects approximately 10+ years of industry experience in relevant roles.
