Job Title
Principal Validation Engineer
Role Summary
Lead validation of SSD/SoC blocks by developing, porting, executing and debugging bare-metal and embedded software to verify functionality, performance and power. Work on validation across pre-silicon and post-silicon phases, collaborating with design, firmware, and validation teams to isolate root causes and close issues.
Experience Level
Senior. Typical guidance in the posting: Bachelor's degree holders with ~5–10 years of relevant professional experience, or Master's degree holders with ~3–5 years.
Responsibilities
Key responsibilities include:
- Develop, port, run and debug bare-metal and embedded software for multiple SSD/SoC blocks.
- Create and maintain test code and infrastructure to support new features and standards.
- Design and review test plans; document and share test results internally and externally.
- Measure and analyze performance, throughput, and power across SoC blocks.
- Collaborate with Design, Firmware, and Validation teams to reproduce failures and determine root cause.
- Operate lab equipment and debug tools to validate hardware/software interactions.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience:
- Strong C/C++ programming and embedded software development skills.
- Experience with Linux and basic ARM/RISC microprocessor or SoC architecture.
- Proven debug skills for software and hardware interaction; able to isolate root cause.
- Experience in Pre-Si and Post-Si validation, including stress and PVT testing.
- Familiarity with lab/debug tools such as emulators, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; able to work across disciplines and manage multiple priorities.
- Nice-to-have: experience with NAND testing and debugging; knowledge of DDR, SPI, PCIe, NVMe protocols.
Education Requirements
Requires a Bachelor's degree in Software, Computer, or Electrical Engineering (posting specifies 5–10 years experience for Bachelor's) or a Master's degree in those fields (posting specifies 3–5 years experience for Master's). The posting also mentions an overall GPA of 3.5 or higher.
