Principal Test Engineer - Security and Provisioning

Role Summary

The Principal Test Engineer will define, develop, validate, and deploy secure provisioning flows for semiconductor manufacturing on ATE. The role owns manufacturing execution for lifecycle transitions, eFuse/OTP programming, readback/verification, secure debug control, device identity provisioning, and production guardrails across wafer sort, final test, SLT, and high-volume manufacturing.

Location: Austin, TX. No relocation package is available for this role.

Responsibilities

Lead ATE test strategy and execution for secure provisioning and ensure production-ready, safe fuse/programming flows.

  • Own end-to-end ATE provisioning strategy: lifecycle state transitions, secure boot enablement, device identity, debug lock/unlock policy, and production fuse programming.
  • Define and implement manufacturing-friendly fuse and provisioning flows: write, readback, verify, margin read, error handling, retry limits, binning, audit logging, and pass/fail criteria.
  • Develop, simulate, validate, and debug Advantest 93K test methods, digital patterns, datalogging, and production flows for provisioning and post-provisioning checks.
  • Collaborate with Design, Security Architecture, Firmware, Product Engineering, and Manufacturing to ensure deterministic and practical provisioning, access controls, and debug policies for ATE execution.
  • Partner with DV teams to validate provisioning sequences, security blobs, lifecycle transitions, negative/error scenarios, and security state-machine behavior prior to silicon execution.
  • Define production controls and documentation to prevent over-fusing, partial provisioning, wrong-blob usage, unauthorized debug enablement, and ensure traceability and release criteria across CP/FT/SLT/HVM handoffs.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience:

  • 10+ years in semiconductor manufacturing and test, production test, ATE development, product engineering, or silicon bring-up for complex SoCs or advanced devices.
  • Hands-on experience with Advantest 93K ATE test development and SmarTest 7/8: digital patterns, STIL/pattern generation, test methods, datalogging, and production integration.
  • Practical experience with eFuse/OTP/non-volatile fuse programming, fuse controllers, lifecycle controllers, JTAG indirect access, readback/verify flows, margin validation, and manufacturing-safe programming controls.
  • Experience with security lifecycle transitions, secure debug states, device provisioning, key/certificate/blob handling, and secure boot enablement in a manufacturing context.
  • Ability to read and interpret fuse maps, security registers, JTAG/DAP/APB/AXI access paths, provisioning appliances, and manufacturing access restrictions.
  • Proven cross-functional execution with DV, design, firmware, security architecture, and manufacturing teams to validate test sequences and silicon-to-ATE correlation.
  • Strong understanding of wafer sort, final test, SLT, HVM release processes, production quality controls, traceability, and manufacturing guardrails.

Preferred / useful experience:

  • Familiarity with DICE, attestation, Root-of-Trust concepts, RSE, Caliptra, or equivalent secure manufacturing flows.
