Job Title

Principal Test Development Engineer

Role Summary

Senior technical leader on the Precision Signal Chain Back-End Measurement Team responsible for defining and executing test strategies for precision mixed-signal products from concept through high-volume production.

Lead development of probe and final-test solutions, drive manufacturability and quality improvements, and collaborate across Design, Evaluation, Product Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing.

Experience Level

Senior (Principal). Typical guidance: 12+ years of semiconductor industry experience in test development.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include:

  • Define and execute test strategies for complex precision analog and mixed-signal products from concept to production release.
  • Develop probe and final-test solutions on advanced mixed-signal ATE platforms with a focus on cost-effectiveness and manufacturability.
  • Establish robust test methodologies, production test limits, release criteria and characterization strategies using statistical analysis and capability studies.
  • Influence design-for-test, testability and production test strategies through collaboration with Design and Evaluation teams.
  • Drive product quality, yield improvement and production readiness across global manufacturing sites and support transfer to high-volume manufacturing.
  • Lead technical reviews, identify development risks, and implement mitigation plans across multiple projects.
  • Mentor engineers and provide technical leadership to advance reusable test frameworks and engineering best practices across the organisation.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to resolve complex measurement and test challenges affecting product execution.
  • Occasional travel to development sites, manufacturing locations and customer facilities (typically up to 10%).

Requirements

Must-have:

  • Typically 12+ years of semiconductor industry experience with significant semiconductor test development background.
  • Strong ATE development experience on Teradyne, Advantest, NI STS or equivalent mixed-signal test platforms.
  • Proven ability to lead complex technical projects and influence decision-making across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Deep understanding of semiconductor product development including characterization, qualification, production test strategy, manufacturing release and yield improvement.
  • Strong knowledge of precision analog and mixed-signal circuits, measurement techniques and bench instrumentation.
  • Excellent analytical, communication and technical leadership skills; data-driven problem solving.
  • Willingness to travel up to approximately 10% as required.

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience developing production test solutions for ADCs, DACs, amplifiers, references or power management devices.
  • Familiarity with DFT methodologies, simulation-based test development, virtual ATE environments or pre-silicon test verification.
  • Experience with mixed-signal hardware development including load boards, evaluation systems, PCB design and CAD/simulation tools.
  • Experience correlating bench, evaluation and ATE measurement environments for robust characterization and production readiness.
  • Software development experience in C/C++, Visual Basic or LabVIEW within test and measurement environments.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership through mentoring, project leadership or development of engineering methodologies.

Education Requirements

BS or MS degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related technical discipline.
