Principal Systems & Solutions Engineer
Role Summary
Customer-facing technical leader for the Custom Digital MCU/MPU business. Works with customer engineering teams to understand product architectures and translate system requirements into product and roadmap inputs.
Acts as a bridge between customers and internal product, architecture, silicon, and software teams to support design wins and prioritize customer-driven features.
Experience Level
Senior - typically 10+ years of relevant embedded systems, applications engineering, or semiconductor experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on customer engagement, system architecture, and converting customer needs into validated product requirements and collateral.
- Engage customer engineering teams to understand product systems, architecture choices, workloads, software stacks, constraints, and roadmap needs.
- Translate customer needs into clear requirements for MCU/MPU products, processor subsystems, mixed-signal IP, software, safety/security, connectivity, and platform derivatives.
- Support design-win pursuits with architecture discussions, technical differentiation, and competitive comparisons.
- Develop system-level collateral: block diagrams, requirements matrices, reference architectures, and customer use-case notes.
- Collaborate with product management, silicon architecture, software, and design teams to validate feasibility and prioritize roadmap inputs.
- Own coverage of select verticals such as automotive zonal/SDV, motor drive/robotics, industrial automation, Edge AI, networking/infrastructure, or e-mobility.
- Provide customer feedback loops and participate in workshops, technical reviews, and executive design-win discussions.
Requirements

Must-have:
- 10+ years of embedded systems, applications engineering, product systems, processor architecture support, or related semiconductor experience.
- Strong understanding of MCU/MPU product architectures, embedded software, and hardware/software partitioning.
- Hands-on experience in one or more domains: automotive electronics, industrial automation, robotics/motor control, networking/infrastructure, e-mobility, or Edge AI.
- Proven ability to produce technical collateral, competitive analysis, architecture recommendations, and requirements documentation.
- Effective verbal and written communication with customer engineering teams and internal silicon/software/product teams.
- Comfort working across hardware, software, safety/security, connectivity, and mixed-signal domains.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience with RTOS, embedded Linux, AUTOSAR, motor-control software, industrial protocols, TSN, CAN/CAN-FD/CAN-XL, Ethernet, HSM/security, or functional safety.
- Customer-facing experience with OEMs, Tier-1s, industrial automation, robotics/motion-control, or networking/infrastructure customers.
- Willingness to travel for customer workshops and internal engineering reviews as required.
