Principal System Engineer
Role Summary
Lead system-level definition and safety activities for automotive high-side switch products. Work with product, silicon and field teams to translate customer requirements into technical specifications and ensure timely demonstration of IP in silicon.
Work is split between system engineering (majority) and functional safety (minority), supporting customer engagement, competitive benchmarking, and safety analyses aligned to ISO 26262.
Experience Level
Mid-level β typically 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities cover system engineering for power-distribution products and safety activities for IC development.
- Engage with customers and field teams to capture and translate requirements into technical specifications.
- Perform competitive benchmarking and monitor research in vehicle power distribution.
- Lead technical discussions with customers and partner field teams to support designs and resolve issues.
- Balance innovation and execution to deliver IP demonstrations in silicon on schedule.
- Derive, define, and verify safety requirements from higher-level system requirements.
- Contribute to chip-level safety architecture consistent with ISO 26262.
- Perform and review safety analyses such as DFMEA, DFA, FMEDA and FTA.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and workplace capabilities.
- 5+ years of relevant industry experience.
- Deep understanding of commonly used analog circuits and blocks in power products.
- Strong knowledge of electro-thermal analysis.
- Experience with ISO 26262 for IC products.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment.
- Proven ability to collaborate across functions and drive results.
- English proficiency for business conversation (approx. TOEIC 700 level).
Nice-to-have:
- Automotive power management experience.
- Experience with power switches and power packaging technology.
- Experience with thermal simulators and circuit/block simulators.
- PCB design and EMC design experience.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree or higher in Electrical Engineering. Mentioned certifications/credentials: FuSa certification (listed as desirable). No alternative "equivalent experience" statement provided.
