Principal System Engineer

Role Summary

Lead the architectural definition, design and implementation of complex embedded systems across hardware, firmware and software for next-generation semiconductor products. Work with cross-functional teams to translate product requirements into validated system solutions and improve system engineering processes.

Experience Level

Senior — typically requires 12+ years of system engineering experience in embedded systems and semiconductor product development.

Responsibilities

The role owns system-level architecture, analysis, integration and validation for new products.

• Define system-level architecture covering hardware, firmware and software.
• Gather requirements, produce specifications and translate product needs into technical solutions.
• Perform feasibility studies, trade-off analyses and risk assessments for architectures.
• Collaborate with hardware, software and verification teams to ensure component integration and validation.
• Develop and execute system-level test plans and verification strategies.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
• Interface with customers to capture technical requirements and feedback.
• Drive continuous improvement of system engineering processes and contribute to IP through disclosures and publications.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required or strongly preferred.

Must-have:

• 12+ years of system engineering experience in embedded systems and semiconductor product development.
• Proven experience in system-level architecture, requirements decomposition and trade-off analysis.
• Strong programming and modeling skills: C, C++, MATLAB, Python.
• Experience in analog-mixed-signal product specification and development.
• Experience creating and executing system-level test plans and validation strategies.
• Strong written, oral and presentation skills; ability to work as an individual contributor across global teams.

Nice-to-have / Preferred:

• Experience in wireless communication system design or control system design.
• Experience with DC-DC modeling, performance analysis and jitter modeling.
• Customer-facing experience and history of patent disclosures or technical publications.

Education Requirements

Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field.
