Principal System Engineer

Role Summary

Lead architectural definition, design, and implementation of complex embedded systems for semiconductor products. Work across hardware, software, and firmware teams to translate product requirements into technical solutions and ensure system-level performance and reliability.

Individual contributor role providing technical leadership and mentorship, driving system engineering processes and contributing to intellectual property.

Experience Level

Senior — 12+ years of experience in system engineering with emphasis on embedded systems and semiconductor product development.

Responsibilities

Responsible for system-level architecture, analysis, integration, verification, and customer interaction.

• Define system-level architecture for new semiconductor products covering hardware, software, and firmware.
• Gather requirements, develop specifications, perform feasibility studies, trade-off analyses, and risk assessments.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and verification teams to integrate and validate components.
• Develop and execute system-level test plans and validation strategies.
• Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
• Act as technical interface with customers to translate needs into technical requirements.
• Drive continuous improvement in system engineering methodologies.
• Contribute to patents and technical publications.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for successful performance in this role.

• 12+ years experience in system engineering, embedded systems, and semiconductor product development.
• Strong programming and modeling skills: C, C++, MATLAB, Python.
• Experience in wireless communication system design or control system design.
• Experience with DC-DC modeling, performance analysis, and jitter modeling.
• Experience with analog/mixed-signal product specification and development.
• Strong written, oral, and presentation skills; able to work with diverse, distributed teams.
• Proven ability to lead technical workstreams as an individual contributor.

Nice-to-have: background in customer-facing technical roles and prior patent or publication record.

Education Requirements

Master's degree or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
