Principal Supplier Quality Engineer — Assembly and Test

Responsibilities
Core responsibilities include supplier quality assurance, issue resolution, audits, and process improvement across subcontracted assembly and test sites.
- Serve as primary quality interface between suppliers and Renesas, ensuring alignment with Renesas quality requirements.
- Lead investigations of quality excursions using structured problem-solving (e.g., 8D) and drive corrective/preventive actions to closure.
- Maintain and execute supplier audit and certification programs; support supplier process/material change control.
- Provide quality leadership for evaluation and qualification of new subcontractors for automotive, high-reliability, industrial, and commercial markets.
- Analyze quality trends, manage improvement projects, and influence cross-functional teams to implement improvements at supplier sites.
- Deliver supplier quality training and deploy best-known practices across subcontracted manufacturing operations.
Requirements

- Proven experience in supplier quality management and supplier selection, including managing manufacturing excursions and supplier improvement activities.
- Hands-on experience with semiconductor assembly, test, and post-test processes.
- Skilled in structured problem-solving methods such as 8D, 5-Why, and Fishbone analysis.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with internal and external cross-functional groups.
- Experience executing supplier audits and supporting supplier site certification and change control processes.
- Nice-to-have: experience with advanced packaging (e.g., WLCSP), VDA6.3 familiarity, and experience in regional/global supplier quality environments.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field is specified. Third-party audit certification for ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 is required. (No alternative-equivalent-experience language was provided.)
