Principal Software Engineer (H/F)
Role Summary
Lead front-end development for the Magillem product line (Magillem Connectivity and Magillem Registers), defining technical direction and software architecture for complex GUI applications used in semiconductor/SoC workflows.
Drive architecture, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate with backend, QA, product management and support to deliver robust, high-performance desktop software.
Experience Level
Senior — Principal level; requires 10+ years of professional software development experience.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities focus on front-end architecture, technical leadership, and cross-team collaboration.
- Define and drive the front-end technical vision and architecture for Magillem products.
- Design scalable, maintainable, and robust software architectures for complex desktop GUI applications.
- Act as the technical authority on challenging GUI development and performance issues.
- Lead architecture, design, and code reviews; set coding and quality standards.
- Implement critical or strategic features hands-on when required.
- Mentor and coach engineers; promote best practices in design, testing, and maintainability.
- Collaborate with backend, QA, product management, field application engineering, and support teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Evaluate and recommend emerging technologies; drive modernization and technical debt reduction.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills, experience, and language requirements. Nice-to-have items are listed separately.
- 10+ years of professional software development experience.
- Recognized expertise in modern front-end development (React, TypeScript or equivalent).
- Strong software architecture experience for complex systems and large-scale desktop applications.
- Experience with UI test automation (Playwright or similar).
- Proven ability to lead technical decisions, run architecture and code reviews, and enforce engineering standards.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Proven experience mentoring and developing software engineers.
- Fluent in French and English.
Nice-to-have
- Experience with semiconductor EDA tools or related domains.
- Knowledge of graphics performance optimization, rendering technologies, or large-scale graph visualization.
- Experience defining and driving technical standards across an engineering organization.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's, Master's, or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Hardware Engineering, or a related field.
