Principal Software Engineer - Accelerator Tools Engineering (Silent)

Role Summary

Work on the Machine Learning Hardware Architecture team in Central Technology to build tools that expose and evaluate proposed features of Arm's ML accelerators. The role focuses on prototyping software that demonstrates hardware capabilities and informs architecture decisions.

Collaborate with hardware architects, modellers and software teams to define interfaces, measure performance, and validate proposed accelerator features.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include creating and maintaining tooling that exercises accelerator hardware features and producing evaluation data used by architects and software teams.

  • Design and implement tools that expose proposed hardware features and measure resulting performance.
  • Work with hardware architects to define and refine software interfaces for new features.
  • Integrate tools with existing architecture and modelling workflows to validate proposals.
  • Create reproducible performance benchmarks and analysis to guide design trade-offs.
  • Collaborate across teams to support adoption and improvement of the tooling.

Requirements

  • Must-have: Strong programming experience in C++ and Python.
  • Solid understanding of computer architecture and accelerator design concepts.
