Principal Software Engineer — Accelerator Tools Engineering

Role Summary

Join Arm's Central Technology Machine Learning Hardware Architecture team to develop software tools that validate and demonstrate proposed features for Arm's ML accelerators. The role partners with hardware architects to expose hardware capabilities and evaluate performance across architecture projects.

Experience Level

Senior (Principal). Typically requires extensive experience; commonly 7+ years or equivalent professional experience.

Responsibilities

The key responsibilities focus on designing and delivering tools that exercise proposed accelerator features and working with architects to define software interfaces.

  • Design and implement tools that expose and evaluate proposed hardware features for ML accelerators.
  • Measure and analyze performance impacts of architectural changes.
  • Collaborate with hardware architects and modellers to define and refine software interfaces to new features.
  • Integrate tooling into architecture workflows so features can be demonstrated and validated across teams.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform the role.

  • Strong programming experience in C++ and Python.
  • Solid understanding of computer architecture and accelerator designs.
  • Experience developing software interfaces on large projects.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills to collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with machine learning frameworks.
  • Experience working with architects and modellers to test proposed hardware features.
  • Understanding of memory systems and hierarchy.
