Principal Software Engineer

Role Summary

Lead technical direction across multiple engineering teams in the Infrastructure Solutions Software group (CE-SW), delivering complex SoC, firmware and system software for cloud and data center products. Set technical priorities from pre-silicon through silicon bring-up to production readiness while developing and coaching team leads.

Work involves cross-functional collaboration with hardware, architecture and product teams to resolve dependencies and mitigate technical risk.

Experience Level

Senior - experienced technical leader. Typically 7+ years of relevant experience in system or embedded software and SoC domains.

Responsibilities

The role focuses on technical leadership, team development, planning and cross-team coordination.

  • Provide technical direction across multiple engineering teams for SoC, firmware and system software from pre-silicon to production.
  • Lead and mentor team leads; grow engineering capability and the careers of engineers.
  • Translate product requirements and architecture into technical priorities, deliverables and team plans.
  • Manage cross-functional dependencies and resolve complex technical issues with hardware, software and product teams.
  • Drive engineering planning, execution and decisions to achieve production readiness.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience required for the role; followed by desirable skills.

  • Extensive experience delivering complex system software in embedded or infrastructure SoC environments.
  • Proven technical leadership across multiple engineering teams.
  • Strong knowledge of low-level systems: bootloaders, device drivers, OS fundamentals (preferably Linux), and computer architecture.
  • Proficient in C or a similar language with experience optimizing software performance.
  • Excellent technical judgment, problem-solving and communication skills; ability to influence engineering decisions.

Nice-to-have:

  • Familiarity with Linux kernel, Trusted Firmware-A (TF-A), UEFI EDK II, OpenBMC or KVM.
  • Experience with server-class SoCs (RAS, power management, PCIe, CXL, memory subsystems, virtualization).
