Job Title

Principal SoC Verification Engineer

Role Summary

Lead SoC verification activities for Arm's Solution Engineering team based in San Diego. Work with RTL designers and verification engineers across multiple countries to define and deliver verification strategy and closure for complex SoC projects.

Focus areas include verification planning, architecture of verification environments, delivery of simulation/emulation/prototyping flows, and mentoring engineers to meet project milestones.

Experience Level

Senior / Principal level. Typically a principal engineer with substantial SoC verification leadership experience (commonly 8+ years).

Responsibilities

Key duties expected for this role:

  • Define and lead SoC verification strategy and verification plans.
  • Architect and implement verification environments and testbenches (SystemVerilog/UVM).
  • Drive simulation, emulation, FPGA prototyping, and silicon bring-up activities.
  • Establish coverage goals and lead coverage-driven closure.
  • Debug complex RTL and system-level issues; provide root-cause analysis.
  • Mentor and lead verification engineers; review designs and verification deliverables.
  • Coordinate across architects, RTL designers, software and system teams to ensure verification completeness.
  • Improve verification methodologies, flows, and automation to increase productivity.

Requirements

Minimum skills and experience expected (must-have vs nice-to-have):

  • Must-have: Extensive SoC verification experience and track record of leading verification for complex chips.
  • Must-have: Proficiency with SystemVerilog and UVM; strong verification methodology knowledge.
  • Must-have: Hands-on experience with simulation and emulation flows and FPGA prototyping; strong RTL debug skills.
  • Must-have: Scripting and automation experience (Python, Tcl, Perl or similar) for testbench and flow development.
  • Must-have: Proven leadership, mentoring, and cross-functional coordination skills.
  • Nice-to-have: Formal verification experience, familiarity with Arm IP/architecture, RTL design experience, and experience with CI/CD for verification flows.
