Job Title

Principal SoC Performance Architect — Next-Generation Server Platforms

Role Summary

Lead performance analysis and architecture improvements for next-generation server platforms by combining workload characterization, silicon-level investigation, and targeted benchmarking. Work closely with hardware and software teams to identify bottlenecks and translate findings into architectural recommendations for AI-scale and HPC systems.

Experience Level

Senior — 10+ years of experience in system or hardware architecture.

Responsibilities

Provide technical leadership for performance evaluation across architecture, workload, and silicon validation.

  • Evaluate and analyze real-world workloads on production silicon, focusing on AI at scale and HPC.
  • Define performance metrics, representative use cases, and benchmarking strategies with cross-functional teams.
  • Design and implement microbenchmarks to isolate architectural behaviors.
  • Identify performance bottlenecks and recommend actionable optimizations.
  • Translate workload and silicon study insights into architectural improvements for performance and scalability.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software teams to influence system-level design decisions.
  • Serve as a performance expert and provide guidance across teams.
  • Drive end-to-end validation from architecture to silicon.

Requirements

Key technical skills and experience required. Education requirements are listed separately below.

  • Proven experience: 10+ years in system or hardware architecture with work on CPU/accelerator architectures, cache and memory subsystems, or IO/networking/storage.
  • Domain expertise (one or more): high-performance IO/networking (PCIe, CXL, InfiniBand, RoCE) or performance optimization for HPC/cloud-scale systems.
  • Benchmarking: expertise in benchmarking methodologies and developing custom microbenchmarks.
  • Performance tools: experience with performance analysis tools, profilers, and simulation environments.
  • Software skills: proficiency in SystemC, TLM, C++, and Python; ability to work in large, complex codebases.
  • Collaboration and leadership: ability to influence cross-functional teams and provide technical leadership on performance topics.
  • Nice-to-have: direct experience with silicon bring-up or post-silicon performance analysis; familiarity with performance simulators or architectural modeling tools.

Education Requirements

Master's or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
