Job Title
Principal SoC Performance Architect – Next-Generation Server Platforms
Role Summary
Lead performance analysis and architectural improvements for next-generation server platforms, with a focus on AI-scale and HPC workloads. The role combines workload characterization, silicon-level investigation, microbenchmark development, and collaboration with hardware and software teams to drive system-level performance.
Experience Level
Senior — requires 10+ years of experience in system or hardware architecture and performance engineering.
Responsibilities
Work across architecture, silicon validation, and software teams to measure, analyze, and improve real-world system performance.
- Evaluate and analyze real-world workloads on production silicon, focusing on AI at scale and HPC.
- Define performance metrics, representative use cases, and benchmarking strategies with cross-functional teams.
- Design and implement targeted microbenchmarks to isolate architectural behavior.
- Identify performance bottlenecks and recommend actionable optimizations.
- Translate workload and silicon insights into architectural improvements for performance and scalability.
- Collaborate closely with hardware and software engineers to influence system-level design decisions.
- Provide technical leadership as a performance expert across teams.
- Drive end-to-end validation from architecture through silicon to ensure delivered system performance.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and experience required to perform effectively in this role.
- Extensive experience with CPU and accelerator architectures, cache and memory subsystems, and I/O subsystems (PCIe, networking, or storage).
- Strong background in either high-performance I/O/networking (e.g., PCIe, CXL, InfiniBand, RoCE) or performance optimization for HPC/cloud-scale systems.
- Proven expertise in benchmarking methodologies and development of custom microbenchmarks.
- Experience with performance analysis tools, profiling, and simulation environments.
- Proficiency in SystemC, TLM, C++, and Python; comfortable navigating large codebases.
Nice-to-have:
- Hands-on experience with silicon bring-up or post-silicon performance analysis.
- Familiarity with performance simulators or architectural modeling tools.
Education Requirements
Master's or PhD in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field (as stated in the posting).
