Principal SoC Architect, AI Accelerators
Role Summary
Architect and drive system-level requirements for next-generation AI datacenter products, from device/card and server to full rack. Work with customers, ODMs, and cross-functional teams to define hardware and software requirements that address security, reliability/availability, and virtualization for scale-up and scale-out deployments.
Experience Level
Senior-level. Typically requires 10+ years of hardware design, testing and commercialization experience and several years working on datacenter/server products.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities include technical leadership of SoC-level features and requirements for datacenter deployments.
- Engage with customers and ODMs to gather datacenter HW and SW requirements.
- Analyze current AI server deployments and identify architectural enhancements needed for next-generation products.
- Define SoC architecture and requirements for RAS, virtualization, and security across card, server, and rack levels.
- Design for serviceability, availability, telemetry, and lifecycle management.
- Collaborate with product marketing and datacenter customers to align technical tradeoffs and roadmaps.
Requirements
Must-have technical experience and domain knowledge.
- 10+ years of HW design, testing and commercialization experience focused on SoC/ASIC development.
- 3+ years working on datacenter-related products (servers, accelerators, or similar).
- Deep knowledge of datacenter concerns: security, RAS, virtualization, telemetry, power, cooling, deployment and lifecycle.
- Familiarity with scale-up and scale-out architectures and operational issues in datacenter environments.
- Experience working in multi-site, international engineering teams.
Nice-to-have / preferred:
- Experience with Server SoC security and Confidential Compute technologies.
- Participation or familiarity with OCP Security Forum or Confidential Compute Forum.
- Experience defining RAS infrastructure at the Server SoC level.
- Knowledge of PCIe features (SR-IOV, SIOV, IDE, TDISP) and Ethernet protocols with virtualization/error-recovery focus.
Education Requirements
Qualifications reference degree-based alternatives: Bachelor's in Science/Engineering or related field with ~8+ years relevant experience; Master's in Science/Engineering or related field with ~7+ years; PhD in Science/Engineering or related field with ~6+ years. The posting also allows equivalent practical experience in lieu of degree-level requirements.
