Principal Silicon Photonics Integration Engineer (2026 New College Graduate)

Role Summary

Join the Fab 8 team in Malta, NY to support 300mm semiconductor manufacturing and development focused on silicon photonics. The role owns process integration for a technology module, monitors manufacturing performance, and drives improvements in yield, process stability (Cp/Cpk), electrical parameters, and defectivity.

The position emphasizes experimentation and data-driven development of new production technologies while balancing quality, cost, and delivery in a high-volume fab environment.

Experience Level

Entry-level / New college graduate (2026). This posting targets recent graduates; prior internship or co-op experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include end-to-end ownership of a technology module, sustaining manufacturing performance, and cross-functional development of new production processes.

  • Own a technology module end-to-end: prioritize projects, delegate tasks, define experiments, and disposition hardware.
  • Sustain and improve manufacturing performance by reducing defectivity and increasing process stability and efficiency (Cp/Cpk).
  • Identify and resolve line issues using data analysis; drive timely containment to minimize impact on yield and delivery.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to develop and transfer new production technologies and implement cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support Environmental, Health, Safety & Security programs.

  • Prior internship or co-op experience in a related area.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience in projects, competitions, or workplace settings.
  • Project management skills and the ability to navigate ambiguity and execute solutions.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, planning, and organizational skills.
  • Problem-solving skills with knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, SPC, and DOE methodologies.
  • Hands-on or academic experience in semiconductor processing or silicon photonics; ability to collaborate across diverse teams.

Education Requirements

Graduating with a PhD degree in Science, Mathematics, Engineering, Semiconductor Manufacturing, or a related discipline from an accredited program is required. Candidates must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and demonstrate good academic standing.
