Job Title

Principal Server Software Integration Engineer

Role Summary

Lead technical role on Qualcomm's Data Center team responsible for end-to-end integration of server software and firmware for high-performance, energy-efficient server reference platforms based on Qualcomm SoCs.

Work closely with cross-functional teams (SoC, firmware, SW verification, release management, product/program management) to deliver validated software stacks and enable timely transition to production.

Experience Level

Senior (Principal). Typical background: 8+ years of software engineering experience; preferred candidates have 15+ years in embedded software integration and extensive datacenter-focused SW/FW experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include technical leadership of integration activities and cross-team coordination.

  • Lead end-to-end integration of server SW/FW stack and ensure traceability of reference platform requirements.
  • Contribute to firmware architecture and design with integration and testability in mind.
  • Coordinate deliverables across releases and across multi-discipline teams.
  • Collaborate with SW Verification Engineering to validate requirements at component, integration, functional, and system levels.
  • Work with product and program managers to identify customer adoption challenges and drive platform improvements.
  • Drive process improvements, tooling, and CI/CD practices to accelerate and stabilize integration.

Requirements

Must-have skills and experience; nice-to-have items listed separately.

  • Must-have: Extensive experience with software and firmware integration for server platforms, including BIOS/UEFI, BMC firmware, and operating systems for x86/ARM64/RISC-V.
  • Must-have: Strong programming and scripting skills (C/C++, Python, shell); at least several years of hands-on development and debugging experience.
  • Must-have: Experience working with cross-functional engineering teams and delivering tangible SW/FW artifacts to production.
  • Must-have: Familiarity with CI/CD, build systems, and automation for embedded and server environments.
  • Nice-to-have: Experience with Linux datacenter distributions, upstream open-source integration, GCC/LLVM/ARM toolchains, firmware signing/packaging, containers (Docker) and build infrastructure (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, GitLab CI).
  • Nice-to-have: Proven ability to build integration tools, diagnose build/deployment/test failures, and automate firmware workflows.

Education Requirements

Minimum qualifications specify a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Information Systems, Computer Science, or related field with 8+ years experience; OR a Master’s degree with 7+ years experience; OR a PhD with 6+ years experience. A Master’s in Computer Science/Engineering or Electrical Engineering is listed as preferred. (Degrees and year thresholds are stated as the minimum qualifications.)
