Job Title

Principal RTL Design Engineer

Role Summary

Lead RTL design for high-performance DRAM digital and mixed-signal IP, owning the full front-end RTL lifecycle from architecture and implementation through silicon-ready signoff. Work with cross-functional teams (physical design, verification, architecture) to meet aggressive power, performance, and area (PPA) targets in a production ASIC environment. Position based in Boise, ID.

Experience Level

Senior-level. Typical experience expectations: Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of pre-silicon RTL design experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of pre-silicon RTL design experience.

Responsibilities

Deliver and sign off RTL that meets product requirements and PPA goals; drive methodology and quality improvements.

  • Own RTL design for DRAM digital and mixed-signal IP from specification through silicon-ready signoff.
  • Architect and implement RTL to meet performance, power, and area targets.
  • Perform and sign off front-end quality checks: lint, CDC/RDC, synthesis, UPF, and timing quality-of-result.
  • Collaborate with physical design, verification, and architecture teams to achieve timing closure and PPA objectives.
  • Improve RTL design flows by driving automation and better methodologies.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for the role.

  • Proven ownership of complex RTL/IP development from micro-architecture definition through handoff to physical design.
  • Strong experience with ASIC low-power design methodologies, including UPF-based power intent and power-aware CDC/RDC.
  • In-depth knowledge of RTL design, logic synthesis, functional verification, and static timing analysis (STA).
  • Proficiency in Verilog/SystemVerilog and industry-standard front-end simulation and synthesis tools.
  • Experience performing front-end signoff tasks and evaluating timing and power quality metrics.
  • Ability to influence and work across multi-functional teams to meet product goals.

Education Requirements

Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with 8+ years of experience, or Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of pre-silicon RTL design experience (as stated). Field: Electrical Engineering or closely related technical discipline. Specific mention of degree levels and years is required as above.
