Job Title

Principal RFIC Design Engineer

Role Summary

Join the Digital Business Unit R&D team to lead RFIC design and integration for next-generation intelligent RF/wireless system-on-chip (SoC) products. The role drives RF/analog front-end architecture, coordinates cross-functional chip integration, and supports characterization, production test development, and customer-facing activities.

Experience Level

Senior (Principal-level). Typical experience indicated: MSEE with 15+ years or Ph.D. with 10+ years in analog or RF circuit design.

Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include hands-on design and cross-team technical leadership through silicon bring-up and production.

  • Perform RFIC design, integration, development, and validation for integrated RF/wireless SoCs.
  • Define RF/analog front-end design requirements and block specifications in collaboration with system and digital teams.
  • Coordinate chip integration with other analog/RFIC engineers and provide guidance to layout teams.
  • Support chip characterization, production test development, and end-customer technical issues with product application and production teams.
  • Provide technical leadership and mentor junior engineers.
  • Participate in system-level modeling, simulation for trade-off analysis, and performance evaluation.
  • Travel as required (approximately 10%).

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience; preferred items listed separately.

  • Design experience with RF front-end circuits such as LNAs, mixers, and power amplifiers, and with baseband analog/mixed-signal circuits.
  • Strong background in CMOS RF transceiver architecture design for modern communication systems.
  • Experience leading chip/IP integration for RF/analog front ends and coordinating cross-functional project execution.
  • Familiarity with behavioral modeling and system-level simulation using Verilog-A/AMS and MATLAB.
  • Proficiency with RF/analog circuit simulation tools and measurement/testing techniques.
  • Hands-on experience with RF test equipment, including spectrum and network analyzers.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with EM extraction and modeling for custom passive devices.
  • Design experience with ADC/DAC, filter design, and low-power transceivers.
  • Experience in Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth, or cellular systems and RF production-level test development.
  • Knowledge of wireless/digital communication theory and DSP concepts.

Education Requirements

Minimum: MSEE with 15+ years of industry experience or Ph.D. with 10+ years in analog or RF circuit design, preferably with experience in advanced CMOS processes and RF transceiver development.
