Job Title
Principal RF Design Engineer
Role Summary
Lead design and development of GaN-based RF power amplifier (PA) products and RF modules from concept through production. Work on electrical and package-level implementations, simulation, lab verification and cross-functional product delivery within a high-performance analog/RF product team.
Experience Level
Senior / Professional β typically 12+ years of relevant RF/microwave design experience.
Responsibilities
Accountable for technical leadership and execution across product development stages.
- Serve as technical lead for discrete transistor and module-based RF product development.
- Perform linear and nonlinear circuit design and 2.5D/3D electromagnetic simulation and optimization.
- Translate simulated designs into physical assembly and package drawings.
- Develop PA reference designs for customer sampling and support product datasheet inputs.
- Manage product checkout, optimization, design verification and lab testing; analyze and present verification results.
- Support products through concept/feasibility, development, qualification, and production phases.
Requirements
Key technical and operational requirements. Degree information is summarized in the Education Requirements section below.
-
Must-have: Extensive hands-on RF/microwave design experience with GaN, HBT or LDMOS technologies and familiarity with MMIC concepts.
- Proven use of design tools: Keysight ADS and Cadence-MWO; and EM simulators such as AXIEM, Momentum, Analyst, or HFSS.
- Experience with RF test equipment: vector network analyzers, signal analyzers, oscilloscopes, power meters, and load-pull systems; able to operate lab testing with minimal oversight.
- Ability to lead and direct lab technicians and work effectively in cross-functional teams (marketing, package/mechanical/product/test/quality/reliability).
- Strong written and oral communication skills; able to present technical results and design rationale concisely.
- Must be able to meet technical schedules and manage multiple tasks under high expectations.
-
Mandatory export control requirement: This position requires access to ITAR/EAR technologies; applicant must be a US Person (U.S. citizen, permanent resident, asylee, or refugee) or otherwise eligible for required export authorizations.
-
Nice-to-have: Prior MMIC design experience and familiarity with multiple package platforms (overmold, laminate, metal-base, air cavity) and module-level design.
Education Requirements
BS in Electrical Engineering with a curriculum emphasis in RF or Microwave technology preferred. The posting indicates ~12+ years of relevant RF/microwave design experience. No alternative degree or "equivalent experience" language specified.
