Job Title
Principal Real Time Interconnect Architect
Role Summary
Lead the definition and demonstration of Quality of Service (QoS) capabilities across Arm IP and system architectures to achieve real-time predictability, performance isolation, power management, and freedom from interference.
Work with solution architects, AMBA and Arm architecture teams to specify QoS requirements and validate that architecture and implementations meet system-level constraints. Role is based at Arm Cambridge with work also supported in Sheffield; hybrid working is available.
Experience Level
Senior (Principal level). Specific years of experience are not stated.
Responsibilities
Drive QoS definition, system-level specification, and demonstration across IP and systems.
- Specify QoS requirements across IP to meet system-level needs for real-time predictability, power management, performance, and isolation from noisy neighbors.
- Partner with solution architects to translate system requirements into QoS architecture and verification plans.
- Collaborate with AMBA and Arm architecture teams to enable future QoS capabilities in protocols and ISA-level features.
- Define and lead methods to demonstrate QoS compliance both analytically and on real hardware.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience required for success in this role.
- Proven experience delivering systems with robust QoS for hard real-time devices and related system-level QoS objectives.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills; ability to build technical consensus across multiple teams.
- Solid understanding of QoS theory and ability to evaluate alternative approaches.
- Experience with RTL design sufficient to assess impacts of architectural choices on area, timing and power.
- Proficiency in Python or a similar scripting language for modelling and tooling.
- Self-motivated and able to set and achieve technical goals independently.
Nice-to-have:
- Experience in performance modelling.
- Experience in system power management.
- Experience across client, automotive and datacenter system architectures.
Education Requirements
Not specified.
