Job Title
Principal Quantum Integration Manager
Role Summary
Lead process integration and experimental coordination across quantum materials, fabrication, and device development to deliver scalable, reproducible qubit technologies. Manage a team of engineers and scientists and own integration strategy, execution, and cross-functional alignment across materials growth, nanofabrication, and device engineering.
Experience Level
Senior-level role. Requires management experience (see Requirements) and substantial technical leadership in process integration for advanced semiconductor or quantum device stacks.
Responsibilities
Own integration strategy and lead cross-functional execution to improve qubit performance, yield, and manufacturability.
- Build, lead, and scale a process integration team; set technical direction and priorities; coach and develop talent.
- Define end-to-end integration strategy across epitaxy, lithography, etch, deposition, packaging, device fabrication, and electrical characterization.
- Coordinate materials, fabrication, measurement, and device-design teams to converge on optimized process stacks and architecture tradeoffs.
- Oversee large-scale experimental campaigns using DOE, statistical analysis, and root-cause analysis to reduce variability and improve performance.
- Develop integration infrastructure: process tracking, data pipelines, and feedback loops; drive AI/automation adoption for process optimization and analysis.
- Manage multiple concurrent programs, report progress and risks to leadership, and work with external fabrication partners for process transfer and scalability.
Requirements
Must-have technical and program leadership qualifications. Education and specific degree/years combinations are listed under Education Requirements.
- Minimum 3+ years of people management experience.
- Proven experience in process integration, yield engineering, or variability reduction in advanced semiconductor or quantum hardware environments.
- Experience with low-temperature electrical characterization and feeding results back into process optimization.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional technical programs and translate experimental/process data into engineering decisions.
- Experience collaborating with external fabs or manufacturing partners and driving process transfer.
- Ability to meet Microsoft Cloud Background Check and specialized security screening requirements.
- Role requires verification of citizenship or other protected status to meet export-control and legal requirements; verification documentation will be required as a condition of employment.
- Willingness to travel approximately 25β50%.
- Ability to leverage modern AI tools for data analysis, performance modeling, and process automation.
Nice-to-have:
- Strong record of technical innovation (publications, patents, or delivered systems).
- Deep expertise in quantum materials development, mesoscopic device fabrication, or semiconductor process stacks.
- Experience defining integration strategies across multiple disciplines in hardware development.
Education Requirements
Required: one of the following degree + experience combinations or equivalent experience: Doctorate (PhD) in Physics, Engineering, or related field with 3+ years' industry or R&D experience; OR Master's degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field with 6+ years' industry or R&D experience; OR Bachelor's degree in Physics, Engineering, or related field with 8+ years' industry or R&D experience; OR equivalent practical experience. Preferred: Doctorate in Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field with leadership experience. Fields referenced: Physics, Materials Science, Electrical Engineering, and related technical disciplines.
