Role Summary

The Principal Project Manager will lead large-scale embedded software and platform enablement programs across MCU, DSP, and SoC products within the Software & Digital Platforms organization. The role spans firmware, Linux and Zephyr stacks, device drivers, boot/ROM, BSPs, SDKs, middleware, security enablement, and platform software through the full product lifecycle.

Works cross-functionally with silicon design, hardware, validation, systems, product teams, and software platform organizations to deliver reusable, high-quality software, ensure alignment of roadmaps, and meet scope, schedule, budget, and quality objectives.

Experience Level

Senior - typically 10–15 years of Program Management, Project Management, or Technical Program Management experience managing embedded software or semiconductor development programs.

Responsibilities

Lead program execution and coordinate cross-functional teams to deliver embedded software and platform releases.

• Own program planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and reporting for embedded software and silicon-software integration programs.
• Align software platform roadmaps with product delivery schedules to maximize reuse and accelerate time-to-market.
• Coordinate execution across Linux Factory, Zephyr Factory, ROM, Security, Common HAL, Unified SDK, and product engineering teams.
• Drive milestones for ES samples, EVT, DVT, PVT, first-silicon bring-up, validation readiness, and production release.
• Manage delivery of BSPs, SDKs, boot software, device drivers, middleware, and platform enablement deliverables.
• Define and track KPIs: platform adoption, reuse metrics, quality indicators, release metrics, and engineering productivity.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to open-source dependencies, platform adoption, and release readiness.
• Lead continuous improvement, retrospectives, and process adoption to improve software quality and execution predictability.
• Provide clear program reporting to engineering leadership and executive stakeholders.

Requirements

Must-have technical and program management qualifications for immediate effectiveness in this role.

• 10–15 years managing embedded software, firmware platforms, silicon enablement, or semiconductor development programs.
• Proven experience in the semiconductor industry coordinating software and silicon teams.
• Hands-on technical background with firmware, driver development, RTOS integration, or hardware bring-up.
• Experience with MCUs, SoCs, ASICs, DSPs, wireless chipsets, PMICs, mixed-signal products, or edge AI systems.
• Strong understanding of semiconductor development lifecycles, silicon readiness milestones, and post-silicon validation workflows; NPI experience preferred.
• Proficiency with program and engineering tools such as MS Project, Jira, Confluence, Jama Connect, and Azure DevOps.
• Demonstrated leadership managing multi-disciplinary, geographically distributed teams and communicating to executives.
• Required travel: up to 10%.

Education Requirements

Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical field. Preferred certifications referenced: PMP, PMI-ACP, Scrum Master, SAFe (or equivalent).
