Role Summary
Work on product and test engineering for optical products, focusing on manufacturing process development, yield, and production readiness for silicon photonics and co-packaged optics. The role partners with cross-functional teams including test, failure analysis, supply chain, reliability and quality to transition advanced optical designs into volume production.
Base pay range: USD 136,880 - 205,000 per year. Eligible for bonus and equity plans.
Experience Level
Senior level. Typical experience guideline: 5–10 years relevant industry experience.
Responsibilities
Lead engineering activities required to move optical modules and devices from design into reliable, cost-effective high-volume production.
- Participate in NPI with emphasis on manufacturing process development and scalability.
- Define and drive Design-for-Manufacturability (DfM) requirements across cross-functional teams.
- Lead manufacturing readiness activities, characterization campaigns, and PFMEA for optical modules.
- Develop and own yield roadmaps, perform cost analysis, and drive continuous yield improvement.
- Design and execute module/device testing and characterization plans to validate performance and manufacturability.
- Troubleshoot production issues and work with suppliers and internal teams to resolve root causes.
Requirements
Key technical requirements and expectations.
- Deep hands-on experience with silicon photonics, co-packaged optics, and high-speed optical components (lasers, detectors, modulators).
- Proven track record transferring modules/devices into volume production and ownership of production metrics.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills; experience using JSL (JMP scripting), Python, or SQL for automated yield monitoring and database querying.
- Experience with test development, characterization equipment, and statistical analysis of yield and reliability data.
