Job Title

Principal Product Engineer — Networking & Connectivity

Role Summary

Senior technical lead within Networking and Compute Product Engineering responsible for driving productization from development through production for networking and connectivity silicon. The role partners with design engineering, manufacturing, program management, quality, and leadership to ensure manufacturability, reliability, and customer readiness.

Focus areas include NPI leadership, technical risk assessment, cross-functional alignment, and enabling scalable deployment of products used in data center and AI infrastructure.

Experience Level

Level: Senior. Typical experience: 10+ years relevant industry experience with a Bachelor's degree, or 5+ years with a Master’s/PhD, preferably in semiconductors.

Responsibilities

The principal product engineer will own technical productization activities and provide cross-functional leadership during NPI.

  • Lead technical decisions from development through production to ensure scalable productization and readiness for customer deployment.
  • Serve as primary technical stakeholder during NPI: characterization, debug, qualification, and readiness reviews.
  • Align and influence cross-functional teams to achieve technically sound, closed-loop solutions for complex issues.
  • Define, quantify, and defend product quality, reliability, performance, and cost targets using data-driven analysis.
  • Lead technical risk assessments and trade-off discussions across engineering, operations, and management.
  • Represent Product Engineering in customer and internal leadership interactions, communicating status, risks, and recommended actions.

Requirements

Must-have technical skills and experience for success in this role.

  • Deep understanding of the end-to-end product lifecycle and demonstrated ability to drive technical decisions for scalable productization.
  • Proven structured problem solving and root-cause analysis across silicon, test, and manufacturing environments.
  • Hands-on experience using ATE for silicon characterization, analysis, and debug; practical experience with 93K is strongly preferred.
  • Applied statistics experience for product characterization, yield improvement, and quality analysis.
  • Working knowledge of data analytics and visualization tools (e.g., JMP, SiliconDash or equivalents).
  • Strong oral and written communication skills for translating technical data into executive-level recommendations.
  • Planning and prioritization across parallel efforts; interest in process automation and workflow optimization is a plus.
  • May require eligibility to access export-controlled technology; candidates should meet applicable export control requirements.

Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field with 10+ years of relevant industry experience, or a Master’s or PhD in those fields with 5+ years of relevant industry experience. Equivalent practical experience is commonly accepted in industry roles of this type.
