Principal Product Engineer – High-Speed IP SerDes
Role Summary
Lead product engineering and post‑sales technical support for high‑performance interface IP (SerDes and related PHY subsystems). Serve as primary customer technical owner, driving pre‑sales engagement, pre‑silicon integration, post‑silicon bring‑up, and cross‑functional coordination to ensure successful product adoption.
Work within a global IP team supporting interfaces such as PCIe, USB, Ethernet, DDR/LPDDR/GDDR, HBM and UCIe, and collaborate with R&D, validation, and applications teams.
Experience Level
Senior-level technical lead. The role expects significant experience (guideline: 7+ years for Bachelor's holders, 5+ years with a Master’s, or equivalent senior experience consistent with a Principal role).
Responsibilities
Primary ownership of product engineering and customer technical engagements across the IP lifecycle.
- Act as product engineering owner for SerDes and high‑speed PHY subsystems at customers.
- Lead customer technical discussions, design reviews, and deployment strategy.
- Drive resolution of complex subsystem integration and implementation issues.
- Conduct SoC integration reviews covering PHY and controller subsystems.
- Provide technical leadership for RTL, gate‑level verification, and timing closure approaches.
- Define and improve integration methodologies, checklists, and customer collateral.
- Lead post‑silicon bring‑up, debug activities, and customer deployment support.
- Collaborate with R&D, validation, and applications teams to deliver product readiness.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across projects.
- Leverage AI tools to improve debug efficiency, data analysis, and decision‑making.
Requirements
Must-have technical skills and customer-facing capabilities required to perform the role.
Must-have
- Proven experience with high‑speed interface IP and SerDes subsystems (PCIe, USB, Ethernet, memory PHYs, etc.).
- Deep knowledge of RTL design, gate‑level verification, and simulation methodologies.
- Experience with synthesis, static timing analysis (STA), and timing closure; backend knowledge is a plus.
- Familiarity with DFT methodologies, test flows, and system validation approaches.
- Demonstrated ability to lead cross‑functional technical efforts and represent the organization in customer‑facing roles.
- Strong problem‑solving skills, ownership mindset, and ability to manage multiple priorities and escalations.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder influence skills.
Preferred / Nice-to-have
- Experience with memory and high‑speed communication interfaces (DDR, LPDDR, GDDR, HBM, UCIe).
- Understanding of analog/mixed‑signal design practices.
- Hands‑on experience in customer silicon debug, bring‑up, and post‑silicon validation environments.
- Familiarity with AI‑assisted workflows and data‑driven debug techniques.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (typical guideline: Bachelor's +7 years experience), or a Master's degree (typical guideline: Master's +5 years), or PhD with relevant experience.
