Principal Product Engineer
Role Summary
Senior product engineering role in the Hi-Reliability group focused on developing radiation-hardened integrated circuits for space and harsh environments. The role coordinates cross-functional teams through new product introduction (NPI) and ensures designs meet electrical and reliability specifications.
Experience Level
Senior — requires 10+ years executing new product development in the semiconductor industry.
Responsibilities
Primary responsibilities center on leading product development and verifying design performance through characterization and cross-functional integration.
- Lead product engineering for radiation-hardened ICs and coordinate the NPI lifecycle.
- Integrate requirements across IC design, radiation effects, applications, test, assembly/packaging, and reliability engineering.
- Characterize designs and verify compliance with electrical specifications.
- Manage project schedules and ensure milestones and deliverables are met.
- Support transfer to manufacturing and qualification activities.
- Drive continuous improvement in PE/TE processes and NPI execution.
Requirements
Must-have skills and experience for successful performance in this role.
- 10+ years' experience in new product development within the semiconductor industry.
- Hands-on lab proficiency with oscilloscope, multimeter, and bench power supplies.
- Familiarity with Automated Test Equipment such as ETS64, microFLEX, UltraFLEX, or Advantest 93k.
- Strong statistical data analysis ability using tools such as JMP or Spotfire.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to lead cross-functional product teams.
- Nice-to-have: experience with radiation-hardened ICs, space industry applications, assembly/packaging processes, or reliability engineering.
Education Requirements
Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or Master of Science in Electrical Engineering (MSEE) is specified.
