Principal Product Engineer

Role Summary

Customer-facing engineering role responsible for driving development and customer engagement for Virtuoso layout automation and AI-driven flows. The role sits at the intersection of analog layout expertise, automation technology, foundry process knowledge, and customer workflows.

You will work on challenging problems to scale next-generation Virtuoso automation flows and enable broader customer adoption.

Experience Level

Senior - minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience.

Responsibilities

Primary responsibilities include product engineering, direct customer interaction, and integration of automation into customer flows.

• Lead development of Virtuoso layout automation and AI-driven design flows.
• Work directly with customers to gather requirements, demonstrate solutions, and resolve technical issues.
• Design, validate, and deploy constraint-driven and migration automation for analog/mixed-signal layout.
• Collaborate with foundry partners to interpret and integrate process rules and PDK constraints.
• Drive adoption and scaling of automation within customer workflows and internal teams.
• Produce clear technical documentation and guidance for customers and engineering teams.

• Strong hands-on experience with analog and mixed-signal layout.
• Deep familiarity with the Virtuoso Custom Design Platform.
• Experience with layout automation, migration, or constraint-driven flows.
• Proven ability to work directly with customers and explain technical concepts clearly.
• Self-motivated, able to work independently and collaborate across teams.
• Nice-to-have: scripting experience (e.g., Python, SKILL) and prior exposure to AI-driven flows.

Education Requirements

MS degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering (or related degree) with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
